I am sure. But they get all the Deep Pocket Car Collectors that need to Decorate their Garage Mahal's. Last year a Couple of restored common Gas Pumps went for Big $$$ about 4 or 5 times what they are worth. You Can Not use B&J's auction results as a Guide to Value!! To Many Rich Guys in one Place at One Time!!!!

I talked with a gentleman this morning just after he had checked in at Barrett--Jackson. He told me that there were only 2500 registered bidders and last year at this time there was 14,000. He said the place is crawling with very high dollar autos from the turn of the century.
Doesn't sound too good to me!

The majority of vehicles there this year are of a lesser restoration quality, compared to years past...i.e. engine & undercarriages with quicky rattle can paint jobs.Taiwan components as opposed to what was actually used on the line, etc.
And too many clones not owning up to it.
Last year there were nearly 5000 registered bidders, this year just over 2500 are registered to bid.
If they ever had 14000 registered bidders,eBay would be setting daily records & the price of gas would be at $8 a gal.

I just got lost on that site, but here is how I found the gas stuff,," got to home page, click on "automobilia", go to "car search" drop down and click on "current event" listing , go to "type" and drop down to "automobilia", slide over to "Day" and click "ALL DAYS"..
KINDA COMBERSOME, but it works..
Prices looked OK, nothing killer so far,, some good stuff coming up ?

Don't know about anybody else, but we've been watching quite a bit of it. And...even been doing some of the fantasy bidding. Good way to pass some cold winter evenings at home.

Wow, the Prices actually look Fairly Normal. Must be the economy last year some of those common pumps would have brought 2 and 3 times the prices they did this year.

Did you folks just catch the '70 Superbird that went for $501,000 plus the $150,000+ in donations? A lot of good people helped out the Daryl Gwynn Foundation so far this year.

Ahhhhh. So that's were this was. I was having a heck of a time trying to find the results of the automobilia. Thanks guys.

Does anyone know what their consignment rate is for automobilia? I had talked to Rory about maybe cosigning a piece for Palm Beach but am having trouble getting ahold of him. I am sure they are busy trying to wrap up Scottsdale. It's a high end piece and they sold one in Scottsdale so I am surprised I haven't at least heard back from him.

Esse, you say you sold an item to Rory outright. How was he to deal with? Sounds like you were happy.

Thanks for the input.

He Was Hard to get ahold of. The Item he bought from me was something that I had for Sale here on Old Gas. He emailed me he would take it but then I didn't hear from him for a week so I wasn't sure if he was blowing smoke or what but in his first email he just had his name at the bottom of the email and I didn't know who the heck he was. Then he finally emailed me that he had been traveling alot and at the bottom of that email it stated his name and phone # and his title as the Director of Automobilia. Then the payment showed up fast and I shipped the Item to him and never heard back so I assumed he was happy with the Purchase. But I figured it was bound to go on the Automobilia Auction at Scottsdale. And yes I was Happy with the Deal I got what I wanted and he didn't haggle on my price. I am sure that the Sellers Premium is at Least 8% like it is on the cars but may be a little more because this stuff doesn't bring the Money that Cars do, Just a Guess. I have his phone #'s if you don't have them let me know and I can email them to you.

So I am guessing it is the same for sellers of Automobilia, since the Cars sales premiums are 8% Buyer/8% Seller.

Thanks. Yeah I was wondering what the sellers cosign rate was. I know their buyers premiums and bidder costs are up there. Price of doing business I guess.

I see he is from Minnesota and they have a large trailer dealership up there or something

Jason, if you have his contact info shoot it to me when you have a chance.

Thanks again.

Rory and Jim Brinkman have bought OVER 100+ Quality items from me over the years!
Very curtious and always a pleasure to deal with!
Always picked items up promptly as promised and NEVER left me in the cold! I remember once a guy wouldn't accept his $2,000 check for a pump so I told Rory to make the check out to me and I handed the guy cash!
GOOD PEOPLE!!!

As I was watching the crowd, I thought it was really nice that so many of the older guys had brought their "20-something" daughters with them to the auction! Even saw a few guys buy cars for their daughters.....a real family event (although I didn't see that many of the girl's moms there).

Wes,

I think you're right (I kind of figured that one out, too!) My daughter said that "those aren't their Daddys, they are their SUGAR DADDIES"..............LOL My daughter actually said she would love to go to the auction with me.
