Question for anyone: I've never been to Iowa Gas, but I've been toying with the idea of going out this year. I've looked at the schedule, but what I'd like to know is, what really goes on? Is the main swap-meet day Thursday or Friday? I know in Columbus it's supposed to be Friday-Saturday but the big day is Friday, Saturday a lot of vendors have already left. Would a man be better off to plan on Thursday as the big day, or would it be jjust as good to go Friday and stay for the Saturday auction? I know being there first is the best way to pick over the creme of the crop, I'm wondering mainly what is the single best day to see the most.

You need to be there for Thursday. By Friday noon more than half of the vendors will be gone.

Thursday is the main selling day w/ room to room vending that evening. Friday is more laid back & friendlier. Most [but not all] vendors start about noon closing up, getting an early supper & relaxing before the can auction. Saturday is the everything else auction & yes there's usually a few sellers in the parking lot.

It's a convention, with collectors buying & selling amongst them selves, instead of a swap meet with LOTS of looky loos & general public looking for a bargain !

I've recovered from my 15 hour drive to Ohio and Now I'm thinking of heading out to Iowa. This would be my first trip out but I've heard some good things about it and have been replenishing my "stuff" so I should have enough "new" stuff for the guys I met in Ohio to check out...and alot of good stuff for the rest...tin, porcelain signs posters and the like...We'll see what the next week or 2 brings...Cheers! shaunhiggins@comcast.net

Hello Everyone,
I will be there most likely Wed morning most likly selling next to Keithia again spaces 67 and 68. Although I made reservations and paid for my spaces very early I still have not received any thing from the show people. Does anyone know whats up? I guess I will have to call . Sounds like fun meeting everyone at that Northern shady spot.

Well, it looks like I'll be making the trek from Massachusetts out to Iowa. (lookin' for a passenger to split expenses if anyones going out from New England) This is my first time and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll be set up in the ballroom with porcelain, tin, cardboard signs. I'll also have some neat early 20's highway safety posters with great car graphics and some cool Harley Davidson calendars...Feel free to email me at shaunhiggins@comcast.net with any wants...Cheers!

Talked to Ron the other nite , he told me that there will be a very good turn out for the show based on the reservations so far. He told me there are a few spaces left but they are quicky filling with the last minute venders. He fulfilled my request on spaces this year with providing me with spaces 104 and 111 this way I can drive the truck and trailer strait into a spot.
See you guys there,
Rob

Jodi and I will be there.

Although, I don't know how much help I'll be to Jodi. She won't let me do anything around here after my surgery.

I'm hoping she will at least let me drive a bit out-n-back. Since the rental van is an automatic - and I won't need my left arm to steer with while I shift!

See ya all there.

Dropped off my stuff at Hemibird's to drive out to Iowa-thanks again Chuck. Gotta stop by the bank to withdraw some cash. Do you guys think a $100 would cover the trip???

Can't wait to see you all again. Don't forget a chair for me Paddy!!!!!!

I realize this is a ridiculously late date to be asking, but does anyone know if they are completely sold out of vending spaces?? I'm thinking about throwing some stuff in the trailer & coming up.

At the airport on the way to Des Moines. I am able to combine some business with the show, WHOOHOO!!

I can't wait.

Mick I bet you cold rent a small car pretty cheap. With the savings in gas it may offset the cost of the rental. Of course you would have to figure out how to get everything you buy home...

Safe travels everyone!

Dad and I are leaving early tomorrow morning and hoping to be at the show mid-morning tomorrow. Looking forward to it to say the least. This year will mark my 19th in a row and Dad's 21st I believe, can't believe it's Iowa time again! Safe travels everyone...
