Hey Dan. So for my own future reference, because this is a sign that I have always wanted a copy of, that's an original drop leg right there? With that fatter border? Also, is that black??

Steve here is mine. They made one with a black and white back on these. Had both versions before. I don't see any difference in mine and the one on eBay minus color of the red. The red is different from batch to batch. So no red flags here IMO.

I'm not posting this to bash anyone, but when you're a new member that is asking questions about Mobil plates in particular, I don't understand why anyone would post non-factual information such as this? In these times of rampant reproductions, posting conflicting information only adds to the confusion, especially for new collectors doing research. Butch had confirmed in the other post questioning this sign that it was real, and posted a pic of his.

This plate is genuine, no question! Like Dan said, the red may vary, mine is the same darker red as Dan's, but some are the red-orange color more like the one on Ebay. The black border plates, so far, have not been reproduced.

I have to agree with what has been said so far in both threads from guys who know. Me personally, I like Mobil stuff but normally only go after the black border signs, I just like them better. When you have seen a pile of them you notice slight color variations as well as lettering thicknesses.
