Just wondering if there is anyone driving to this auction from California. I purchased a scooter out there and need it hauled to Wisconsin. I know that is an awful long way to drive but thought I would give it a shot. Scooter is in the LA area.

I've been to two smith auctions. all I can say is its mostly prime collectibles. the last one I was at had everything from rest room signs to antique tractors. kind of pricy but worth the trip just to see unusual items

Was there today, and am going back tomorrow, only 40 minute drive from here. A "LOT" of nice stuff. I met Jack Sims and had him autograph his book for me. He's really a nice guy. So far the big bids were for a pair of Johnson lenses and a Bell Gas globe.

What did the Johnson lenses, the Bell Regular on orange ripple, and the 1pc Cities Service globe(with the hole in it) go for?

The Bell Regular went for $4200.00. The first pair of 15" lenses sold for $2200.00 per lense. The 13.5 single Johnson will be sold on Sunday along with the other pair of 15" lenses. Sorry Bob, I have not idea what the Cities Service globe went for.

Wayne 60 display went for about $4000 plus 5%. Not sure on other pump. Second Johnson lenses went for about $2200 each, the same for the little one. There were a lot of nice signs, and a few touched up ones. Large Ford neon sign went for $7400 plus 5%.

Bob K, Thanks for the report. I really wanted that 13 1/2" Johnson Ethyl lens to complete a single lens globe I have. Just as well I couldn't attend because I couldn't afford it anyway. Bob

A totally unrestored common eco airmeter went for about $1300...the Canadian double vis went for $8500(it had an excellent restoration)and then the National Simplex pump went for about $1400 and the Rapidayton Bellboy pump for $1650. A set of Mobil diamond bottles with the "bills" cut off went for I believe about $4700! I think the Cities Service one piece globe with hole in it went for around $800.(All prices plus the buyers penalty of 5%)

Mr. Wadhams, Thanks for the info on the 1pc. C-S globe. That was another globe I was interested in even though the auctioneer told me it had a hole in it. Compared to the price of a perfect one that was a bargain.....but I don't think I could ever pay $840 (buyers penalty included) for any globe with a 3" hole in it! Bob
