The book is a must have. I got the book & it helped me out alot. If you get it you will not be disappointed. It will give you the info you need for paint & color with the codes & decals to use. Worth the for sure. Order it through Old Gas so they get some help to keep the site going

It has a ton of paint schemes for each brand. Lots of ad glass and pump plates but not many pics of restored pumps to get you drooling...

Shop Talk member Mark Sconyers did a great job with the step by step instructions on how to restore a pump. There's more info on color combinations, pump plates and ad glass than you'll find anywhere else. If you like your pumps restored to be historically correct, then I think you'll like this book. Its another useful tool for the restorer.

Initially, I was turned off by the black and white photos. Then I got to the "good stuff" all of this has been mentioned earlier, but the paint schemes, and the pump plate identification in the back is great. It is a "have to have" book.

From the standpoint of actually restoring the pump it is only marginally useful. The value is in the color combinations and pump plate listings. Definitely a book worth owning if you're into pumps or pump plates. Much better than the "Gas Pump Collector's Guide".

Buy Jack Sims book, "An Illustrated Guide to Gas Pumps" too if you don't already own it.
