How hard are these to repaint? Looks like there's a groove you just fill in?

Roger--The lettering is etched into the glass and could easily be painted by hand, but the best way to do it, is to tape off the rest of the globe and spray paint it. That will allow for a more uniform coverage that doesn't show any streaks when lit up.
Either way, its a pretty decent price on a fairly rare globe!

like Kevin said, mask it off and spray paint the lettering. and be sure to spray it with it mounted onto a lighted base. that way you can paint it with even light shining thru the color.

Interested buyer has changed their mind so the globe is still available.

I don't know who was either, but they are missing an awful sweet deal if they are interested in collecting Shell. Scott Benjamin has explained countless times that it does not affect value to repaint etched globes.
If I collected Shell, I would be all over it!

Although repainting won't effect value, This would be a tough globe to repaint. There is a lot of very thin raised white streaks throughout the word "Super". You'd have to have a lot of time and patience to do it right.
