I saw something for sale on eBay last week from a seller w/100% feedback for 16 years on ebay..Asked the seller about specific measurement questions etc.Everything checked out,and he even sent me more photos & gave me cell phone# to call if there was anything else...Perfect. Waited 7 days and in the final minutes,I bid once & won it over 10 other bidders for just over $1200,as it started @ $100,which I felt was fair and representive of others I've seen sell for. He was excited too he told me,as he didn't think it could get that much. Then sent me a shipping quote and I sent him paypal payment. He then said it's all boxed & he would ship out Monday AM with tracking #. Open up my email this AM and see he sent me a message through ebay saying,"I have thought it through and just don't feel good about this transaction.Had SO many responses to this ad.I have been an active buyer and seller for 15 years. As the seller it is my choice to cancel this order." I then get notification that my $1250 has come back to me.. I tried to leave him - feedback, but ebay won't let me as it keeps saying he cancelled the auction.I try to open a case, but it won't let me as it says he has cancelled the auction.
I call his cell, and it says voicemail is full and goodbye.
And here I am,sad, upset, beside myself..Wondering WTH? I sent him a response through ebay telling him how I feel and unfair this is and it's not right. No reply fro him at all. I'm sorry to vent, but in all my 18 years on ebay,I have never encountered this unusual & extreme behavior.I've come close, but not like this. No remorse from him,no explanation from him,no culpability from him...nothing.

That is what I think too Randy,as he does seem to imply that. I've heard/seen auctions cancelled mid stream, and even heard of sellers cancelling AFTER and auction is over, but never when money has been sent. Even though it'sbeen paid for & wrapped, and minutes from going to the post office, the seller can still change his mind without any repercussions. I am stunned.

Sucks. I had a purchase on eBay paid for and I get a message that he can't find the item. Says the kids must have lost it. LOL. He was hoping for more. So the opposite situation of yours. I got a great price on the auction which he wasn't willing to accept. Like you I couldn't leave feedback on the "seller".

I know his cell #. I know his full name. I know his home address. I know he's on Facebook too. I don't know if that's anything that can help me..

Rick--it isn't fair and I'm sure you feel bad----BUT---- you have to let it go. These artifacts we collect are only "stuff" and not all that important in the game of life. This person has chosen to show you a side of himself that he probably isn't too proud of, and can't really deal with the results of his actions, so he chooses to ignore you. The thing is, you know what happened and he knows what happened and he will have to deal with that memory for the rest of his life! You could lower yourself to his level and call him out on it, but it would do nothing to rectify the situation and believe me when I say, it wouldn't make you feel any better either. I am a firm believer in the old adage--"what goes around, comes around". You will have your day and how you deal with it, both then and now, will be the thing you remember most! Good luck!

Flea bay should make people like that accountable. That's a bummer Rick . Like Kevin said what goes around comes around . He will get repaid someday for conducting business like that. Seems ones word means nothing this day and age to most people anymore.

I've contacted eBay 3X so far,to talk to 3 different people on purpose. They sympathize with me,then blah, blah, blah say goodbye. I'm actually as upset,if not moreso with eBay right now, than I am with the seller. eBay showing me no culpability or retaliation..Won't even put his feet to the fire,or ban or suspend him.

We all know ebay won't do the right thing for it's buyers and sellers when there is a problem. It's been that way for many years. I'd like to know who the "seller" is that broke his contract with you so I know not to do business with him.

Perhaps E-bay should list how many times a seller has 'cancelled' a sale. And put a rating on that! I'm surprised they don't have a policy in place--don't they miss out on their commission when the sale is pulled? How many sellers use E-bay as free advertisement...
BTW Rick--ya' gotta put back that 'but' ugly piece of pizza for your avatar--then no mistakes! LOL

Done Miss Nicole, for you & Kevins sake. A lil progress was made today, thanks to the help of a few on this website, who know a few people with some legal power. And eBay called me back as well with some news too.Turns out I may have a leg to stand on still. Because of all this,I will not post info about the person who wronged me.....just yet anyway. Stay tuned.

Well this just stinks. It looks like the final word has come down from all involved and absolutely nothing is going to happen to him. I won't get the item I won,and the seller won't be punished, suspended or banned,& all in the eBay world goes on as normal.
With this kind of treatment, why does an eBay seller even bother to list something with a reserve,or a high starting price? Just start your auction for one dollar, and see what the final bid turns out to be.If it's not to your liking, you can just refuse to sell it and hold onto it,as nothing will be done to you per what eBay has shown me. Unreal..

I went though this a few years ago with a boat lift I purchased on ebay. What I learned out of the deal was that you cannot make somebody sell you something, even if it was purchased on ebay. I put a ton of effort into trying to get my boat lift with no success. In the end my money was refunded to me and I was out a bunch of time. Sorry to say this, but move on.
FREEDOM oil items wanted.

Nothing has changed at all, ebay won't do anything and the seller continues to sell.Coward won't reply to me. He lives in Lake Geneva Wisc. and his name is Mark Snape...NHRAMARK on eBay.

It happened again. Seller had a BUY It NOW price in his auction for a week.I hit it and paid him right away for what I believe was an overvalued price anyway, but I had to have it.I asked him for shipping tracking # once sent out. 2 hours later seller returns my payment and said it broke. I asked for pictures of broken item,he told me his wife threw it away..Keep in mind this is all no more then 6 hours after auction ended.

Happened to me 2 times during the past month on e-Bay. Bought an item overseas and paid for it. The seller returned my payment. I sent him a message and resent the payment. He again, refunded my payment and refused to honor the auction. I left him a negative feedback. In the end, I was out almost $50.00 because of the currency exchange. You get a lower currency exchange rate on a refund then on a purchase. what a day...I got ripped off by the seller, e-Bay and Paypal all in one day!
Had another seller cancel our transaction after I paid. I was able to leave a negative feedback. However, e-Bay removed it a few days later.
I'm beginning to question the whole eBay thing. Shipping charges are through the roof and then add the exchange rate that we Canadians have to pay (1.38 presently). Then at the border we have to pay another 12% in taxes. A $100.00 purchase costs me $150.00 with the exchange and taxes. I've cut my buying back.
