I believe these are early 1900s and appear to have some touch ups. $60 each or $170 for all three.

These are newer. A few years old. They just showed up in the last couple of years.

If the "Phillips head" screws are original to the back of the banks... Then the oldest the banks could be, would be from the late 1940s, early 1950s...

Mr. Phillips didn't license his Screw design until 1940 and the Metal and Iron shortages of WWII ensured that the banks couldn't be/weren't produced until well after 1945....

These banks are everywhere. Look at them on Ebay. I would guess that many if not all are reproductions or worse...a fantasy item. Perhaps an authority on Michelin items can shed some light on this.Dave

Not sure how to copy an archive from Oldgas, but if you go back to Tue. Jan 8 2013, Pau gives a very good explanation on the Michelin man (casts).

I collect cast iron and the quality of the cast is now where near an old original casting.

Wow guys I had no idea really. They are Phillips heads so mid 1900s then? I'd think they still had value being from the 40/50s? Curious what you guys feel would be a fair price? Don't want to screw anyone over since gmc wants 2.

Just because they have Phillips head screws in the backs; does not mean that they are from the late 1940s, early 1950s.... The dates I gave, are just the earliest that such manufactured items using these screws; could exist...

Michelin cast iron items have been "hitting the Marketplace" for close to 5 years... You might want to contact Member pauvictoria , who resides in Barcelona, Spain... He was last on the Site, last month on the 10th...

Above is the thread that Brian (Bass Master) referred to in his post....

Checking on Ebay, there are more than a few cast iron Michelin Bibendum figures... Including a few that are similar to yours...

Agreed. Tons of the 18"-24" cast statues the last couple years at the fleas. There was a thread here on them a few years back where a knowledgeable indiv here said they were all fake because none of the originals were cast iron but rather some kind of ceramic or similar.
That comment was not about banks but the larger statues.
