Sheesh, even the more common and 'cheaper' True's globe is way way out of my range at $15,500 b4 fees... frown

First day is in the books. You don't think it can get anymore unbelievable and it does. Kinda reminds me of real estate in 2006 or Ferraris in 1989. Seems a little overheated. I guess my only hope is to win that powerball tonight!!!

Well Texaco/Havoline were pretty reasonable, a lot of stuff seemed very reasonable, except for a few of the crazy stuff. Lot 722 first thing in the morning I believe will be another high roller sign. One of a kind Texaco 42" sign. Probably made for an office building in New York, World Fair ?

I'm with you Doug. I think the Texaco, with marbles, will really take off. Nothing like owning on of a kind!

Tom, I was thinking the same thing. But by the time either of us get the money , this auction will be history. Of course with a payout after taxes of $400,000,000 suppose you might be able to sway someone with your new cash to let go of his prize!! Good luck tonite. Today was my birthday, I knew Kyle very well and like most of us were - priced out. Getting like Barrett Jackson, bunch of guys drinking in the back buying to impress their girlfriends as I have been up there courtesy of a friend and it is stupid ridiculous what you hear and goes on. More to that auction than meets the eye , trust me. Half of those guys on the phones are talking to the owners, NOT a bidder or agent for a bidder. I have listened to many calls of owners to guys on the stage wondering "should I let it go or buy it back" Thats how you see a 100% selling rate. Also go out in back and see how many of those vehicles go back in the trailer they came from and are gone the next day. At least these petro auctions seem to be fair.

Is it just me or are the items that are going today, selling much more reasonably?

When it comes to the more common items, you have to be a fool to buy from these auctions. Base price alone, let alone with premium added in, it seems you end up paying double or more what this would cost you any other day.
$700 plus premium for your basic Flying A PPP. Ridiculous!
Oh well, it's their money!

With the amount of volume & money generated for this kind of sale, I would imagine Morphy's and the person owning/selling the collection negotiated a much smaller % commission payout than the standard.

I thought some of the signs got real reasonable towards the end. And yes, some globes were also. Seemed not quite as frantic today and more the normal course and as Randy said "Everybody ran out of money after yesterday. Well we all got a chance at a billion dollars on Wednesday and I hope one of us wins!! Good Luck

Tom
