Here is a pre-1937 porcelain yellow stop sign with the reflector marbles all in place. The porcelain gloss is excellent and there are only a couple small touch ups on the sign. Hard to find one of these in this nice of condition!
Priced at $600 or best offer--plus the shipping!

I'd like to sell this before Peotone, so that I could just plan on delivering it! I would take my rock bottom of $500 delivered to Peotone!
Pretty high quality piece of porcelain signage here!

I just learned something about this sign! A member sent me a request for pictures of the back and once he had seen the back, he purchased the sign. He told me that because of the mounting pattern on the back, he knew that the sign was used at a railroad crossing! Interesting!

Sign is sold!

Looks like a Griswold rotating stop sign. So I am assuming there was a "spear" pattern on the back where the sign would be attached.

This is how the setup would have originally looked, if you are interested. The stop sign would be rotated to face the road when the signal came on and turn back when off.

What can I say--you learn something every day! I'm glad I sold it at a profit and I'm glad the buyer got a good deal! If I get another, I will remember this!

We have ALL done the same thing. I sold a sign at Iowa one year for $500 and was happy to get it. The buyer was in another booth and I was told he sold it for $1000 that afternoon.

It works the other way too. I sold an oil can rack one year for $300. Another exhibitor bought it and marked it $600 on Wednesday. $500 on Thursday. $400 Friday morning and $300 Friday afternoon. He took it home with him......... crazy
