Looks fine, just local sign company likely made it so you wouldn't see makers name.

I would say so. At least to some degree. Were they not a somewhat major supplier to oil companies? In my mind I was more questioning whether or not they would have had signage as I don't think they did much selling to the general public.

Steve, the Continental Can Company made cans for everyone... Here in this Area, they supplied cans for Salmon, Smelt, Clams, etc...
They made cans for Veggies and Fruit in Eastern WA and OR...
In Astoria, was one of their largest Facilities on the West Coast up until the early 1970s... Making cans for the Salmon Trade...
If there was a need for cans; Continental Can supplied the right can...
Looking for Tide Water/ Tide Water-Associated/ Tidewater items

Looks like a site sign, identifying property owner. Possibly a gate sign. I don't think they are advertising their product to the public.

...'woodlands division'? looks like similar signs nailed to trees to mark the boundary...possibly the company owned timber/pulpwood for paper packaging?
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Back in the day I lived across the field from a CCC plant. I'd like to think it was plant 54 as that mark was common on CDN quarts. They had the triple C signage on the exterior walls.

Sorry Fred, but according to 'The History of the Macdonald Manufacturing Company Ltd' both plants 54 and 90 were in Toronto. CCC bought out Macdonald in 1944 and took over their plants. I haven't been able to find a listing for all their plants in Canada yet. There was also a plant down the road from where I live in Edmonton. CCC was heavily involved in all sorts of containers including glass and paper products. Besides oil tins, they were also a major supplier for beer cans!! Cheers, Don.
