Hello Everyone, I'm trying to plan a trip to my first larger gas and oil swapmeet /show. I live in Va. so I have a few options. Given your choice of one of these where would you go and why. Maggie valley N.C. Dixie gas fall show or Carlisle fall show. I'd appreciate all the input I could get and any other suggestions are definitely welcome. Thank you all for your time. I like advertising as well as gas and oil signs and am looking to build on small collection of cans and pumps. Thanks again

Hi Tim, For a show close to you, Dixie is the best in the South. Fall Hershey AACA is head and shoulders above the rest. Carlisle, not. In my opinion. Paul www.severngaspumps.com

If you are serious about getting into the hobby, go to the Columbus show. A huge selection, a lot of "names in the hobby" will be there to start networking with. Some deals and some strong prices, plus there is normally an auction.

Of those you listed, go to Dixie Gas. A lot of high test items, some GREAT signs, a lot of better stuff. From VA, Carlise is a haul, and the petro does not show up like as in past years. I think Maggie Valley is a good up and coming show, but pretty small yet.

Good oil cans don't wait for people, people wait for them.

I haven't been to Maggie Valley or Carlisle, but I have been to several shows. Go to Columbus, great show (big) and a great time. As Bob said.... "you won't regret it."

If you are looking for petro items, the only show listed above is Columbus. The name of the show is "Check to Oil", what else can I say. Solid petro, not much anything else, all in one place that has a open bar (with snacks) from 4-6 in the afternoon. Plus, everybody you meet is into petro.

And where else can you come to a show and meet the authors of two of the best selling books for this hobby, Scott Anderson, author of the book "Check the Oil," and Scott Benjamin/Wayne Henderson, Scott famous for his knowledge of Globes, Wayne for his knowledge of oil companies. And if you have any questions about gas pumps or air meters, I have written 4 or five books on these subjects. Maybe Jerry might like to have a small forum where the four of us answers questions.

Click on the "Events" tab above the top of this page for more info., and be sure to come and see me, I want to say welcome.
