Have you ever drilled your mounting holes in the wrong spot? C'mon, fess up, we've all done it at least once! LOL I bought this Texaco Marine White sign to display in my office along with my Texaco Marine Lubricants sign and it looked like an easy install to me. A couple holes and a couple of drywall anchors and I should be good to go! Right!------WRONG!! I took my time and got the top 2 holes marked so they were level and spaced the right distance, so as to leave a small gap between the 2 signs, and I felt I was ready to go, so I went ahead and drilled the 2 holes and installed the 2 anchors. It wasn't until I actually mounted the sign, that I realized that the Marine White sign was 3 inches longer than the other sign! I had drilled the top holes so that the top edges aligned? I stepped back and looked and realized that it looked odd that way and that I needed to move it up 2 inches. About then the Warden came into the room and made the comment about how she hates having holes drilled into the drywall! I quickly explained that the sign would be there for my lifetime, and she left! I neglected to tell her that I was going to drill 2 more holes in order to move the sign up 1 1/2 inches and that there would be 2 extra holes in the wall. They are behind the sign and can't be seen, so I guess it makes no difference! I thought I had gotten past that problem of drilling before I am sure about placement, but a small relapse like this will serve to keep it in my head that I should check placement and recheck placement before drilling holes! Anyway, its up there now and is darn sure going to stay there! If anyone has a nice Marine Skychief they want to move---I'd be your customer, as I need another sign for the right side!

ive found myself guilty of very similar scenarios! this is one big reason why I'm doing my garage in barnwood instead of drywall... an extra hole or two in barnwood just looks like it belongs there!

And that's why they make spackle, Kevin My house has inumerable holes behind the hanging art where my wife decided to move them up, down or sideways. And the walls are all plaster over gypsum board. I don't ever expect to patch them, even if we sell the place.

Didn't you hold it up there and mark the holes with a pencil? And in doing so, when flushed out with the top of the Marine Lube sign, didn't the bottom of the White sign hit the cork board? Not sure where things went wrong for you on this, but it sure looks great now!! Can't wait to see it with the SkyChief up there.

It's always a good thing when you can hide those boo boos! : D
I'm actually getting hanging molding put up so I can switch my paintings around, rather than adding holes. But then you got wire/ or line showing.
Anyway it looks good.
