I purchased a Dayton Cut 100 several years ago from a farmer. At some point in time he had converted it from an air operated pump to a hand pump. The hole where the pump shaft comes out was chiseled out(Not a pretty sight). The mounting of the pump mechanism(Hayes)itself was well done and has an authentic Hayes pump handle. Restoration would be easier to go back to original(patch the hole & remove the pump)than to try and fix the hatchet job. Any opinions out there. I'm not really concerned about the value as I do not intend on selling it but by the same token my decision would be influenced if it makes a significant difference. Thanks.

I would revert to the original configuration for two reasons. 1. ease 2. value.

Even though you are not selling and not currently concerned about value, things do change. A pump restored to original condition may be more marketable as well as have a higher value than a hybrid of sorts.

That's my 2 cents anyway.
