Yeah, I just saw the report this afternoon, very surprised and disappointed too I suppose. When we called the city we were told there were no takers on the sign and it was about to be torn down (we had a week or so to do what we could). They had tried for months to sell it without interest. My father and I jumped through hoops to get what we could before she was going to be scrapped.

I started calling the preservation societies today to let them know what we're doing just so they understand were working on sections of the sign. Apparently the city historical society has passed on this sign but there's also a county historical society, those are the people in the news report that have become interested.

The report really doesn't get this right but that's how it usually goes with this kind of thing. They didn't talk to me. When I talked to the city historical society they seemed pleased with what we were doing. (I think I need a beer now)

Been a lot of work but star is now getting pretty close to done now. We've worked on many neon signs before but this was our first "stepper" sign, getting the star to sequence properly was interesting, thankfully there are electronic controllers available now just for this task. Here's a picture of the star lit up. - Paul

If you don't have the same frame of mind as those of us on here, its probably impossible to get any group or person interested in saving it.

Glad you are able to do whatever you can...
