Hello All,
I recently purchased this single Red Crown lens off Ebay. The lens was described as being "pink" in the listing. I studied the photos as best as I could and decided to take a chance on the lens cleaning up. I was betting the lens had been in a shop or garage where they did painting or body work and the lens was covered in some sort of over-spray. I received the lens Tuesday and opened it right away to see what I had. I had a good feeling I got a relative bargain as the pink description may have kept some folks from bidding. I think it took maybe 20 minutes total to get the lens back into original condition. My usual Softscrub with bleach did the trick. Below are some before and after photos. I've always liked this particular globe and am pleased to have one to display now. It goes very well with my Red Crown thermometer. It was neat to see the lens is the same size as the logo at the top of the thermometer.

Darin--Back when I was looking for a good lens to complete my Red Crown globe, I spent 2 years waiting for a decent one to come by! They sure don't run in bunches, and that is an excellent example! Congratulations! Great gamble that paid off!

Thanks for the additional comments. Luckily Kevin I'm one of those globe collectors that's OK with single lenses so I'm happy to have at least one lens to display. I always say you only see one side when they're up on a shelf against a wall anyways! smile
