Agreed boys . ya kev , that's what I always think when a guy sells out . All the memories , I would never want to watch my own stuff being sold . As the women often say , his funerals at 10 am , auction sale is at 2 pm . smile

Top of the market or not, its gotta be tough to walk into that empty building and think about all the memories and experiences that are now gone by the wayside.

That means the buyers are either little players or know nothing about the market and are buying high???
I dont know anyone who knows the future in any market, stocks or signs.
Many times over last 25 years, i have said who would pay that much for a sign? Only to wish i would have bought it, and have in my collection today.

Wanted early tin litho signage.

Looks like some great signs from my quick look. Wonder if this is the same Walker family as the ones that used to make porcelain signs? I can tell already I won't be a buyer based on my current sign buying budget. I don't know why they are selling but I would hate to see them all go at once if it was my collection. Then again, you can't take it with you..

Oh man, and just in time for the tax man. A lot easier to just go and see what you end up with. What is the premium for a buyer there?

The results are in. Some stuff was crazy high but I saw some bargains too.
Of course I liked what the two neon Pegasus went for as i have one of each.
Shows you can't go wrong with quality stuff.

Curious what it was like for those fortunate to make the trip? Killed me the last two days not being there frown

Was there something for everyone with that many signs? Or were a few deep pockets buying a majority of the rare/quality stuff?

I know there are a lot of guys with great neon collections, but that has to be right there at the top!

Just got home. Prices were strong even for less desirable non automotive/petroleum related signs. Seemed that 6-8 bidders onsite bought over 50%. Phone and Internet were also active. Strangely it was cold and it snowed.
Saw a few oldgas members but not many.......different crowd.

Yes, saw the results. Some strong prices, but quite a few good buys or reasonable for sure. Other great chance, but could have been worse with more buyers. Premiums had to add also.

One of the three auctioneers that called that sale lives here in Clinton, Illinois, and has hawked a lot of Mecum auctions, mainly restored antique tractors. I talked to him this morning and he was really impressed at the prices, but did say there were some reasonable buys.I told him that even a reasonable one was out of my range.
