Is the spout attached to the bottle. If not, does it stay on tight or is it just rested? Is there a special tool to get these spouts off and on?

You cannot take them off. They rotate an 1/8" max. There is a large snap ring inside that is impossible to get out without drilling the metal. The top locks in a grove in the bottle. They are filpruf to keep inferior oil from being placed in the bottle. They took a special lubster to fill them. Mobiloil was the best you could get in the 1930's

Thanks you for the info. The question here is I am wondering if the spout is attached. The last picture appears as if it is not. I have seen them sold with the spout off and wondered if they some what stay on the bottle.

Spout is "locked onto" the bottle...a special tool is required to remove these I believe.
