I have seen a few of the same dog with ESSO on the collar, I was told they were for the Fuel Oil division and sat on top of oil delivery trucks?

Enco was the brand (or maybe one of the brand names) used by Standard NJ where they weren't allowed to use the Esso brand. Esso, Enco, Humble, Carter, and the rest of Std NJ brands were eventually renamed Exxon.

I have one of these dogs(the esso version). They went on the top of the oil truck as Rick said. They are very cool! Finding one with nice original paint is also a major plus with no cracks in the fiberglass or chips off the ears.
