Just curious if anyone has used the aftermarket Wayne 71 showcase parts to convert a Wayne 70 to a display pump? I noticed the bases the main piece that they do not produce.

I don't think it would be possible.

Could be done but you have to really be top notch with metal fabrication to pull it off. Craig said it was a pain to get an original aligned when putting back together, so I can only imagine how hard it is to fabricate

Seriously, the 70 is about 24" wide, the 71 is about 36" wide. Enough said.

It is difficult, but possible with the middle and bottom doors. Good metal body man can make that happen, but the top door would require metal to be taken off both sides in order to fit. Could be wrong also, but think the sight glass is different also.

If they could make a Wayne 50 then anything is possible.

Finally progress on our wayne 70 to 71 showcase conversion. Got 1 door hinged and internal structure braced and upper panels are mounted. Been a slow process but making headway as of late.

It is looking good. There is lots of time involved for sure but like anything else it can be done. With the reproduction doors you can fit the body to the doors verses the other way around. Filling in the base also I see. Looking forward to seeing the final product. Good luck with it.

Looks like it is coming along nicely. A lot like doing custom fabrication on a chopped and channeled hot rod. Takes some skill and creativity to get it to come out right. Keep posting pictures as you go.

Nice metal work! You obviously have some great fabrication skills.
a.) looks like it may be possible
b.) it appears there's more to be said.

I dont think this would be all that difficult to do. The hardest parts needed are available through gas pump heaven. The gas manifold is the same as early 70's as well as the computer mounts ect. The hardest part would be making the electrical manifold for the showcase and fabricating the top. I would think that a base could be made pretty easy out of 2 and if done correctly I dont think you would be able to tell that it was not a factory 71 base.

I did one of these about 4 years ago. To do the top, I cut 2 tops up and welded them together to form the wide top needed and as someone already mentioned, I cut 2 bases apart and welded them together to form the wide base. I'm just a flunky when it comes to welding and body work but it really turned out well. I'd post the pictures of it but I don't have them stored in my computer, only on my phone. If someone would post them I could sent them through a text message....Dale
