Neat looking sign. I'm not a Barnsdall collector so I've never seen one before, but would the sign have had a top piece above the B, or was it cut there? Being that it mentions world I surmise there was a globe that stuck up above the B logo. Still cool regardless, just curious.
Thanks,
Darin

Yes, there would have been a top piece to complete the globe, it would have said "be square to your motor", it would be great if someone had the top to complete this sign.

It sure would be cool if someone had that part, like you said. Thanks for the info.

I had the top piece like 15yrs ago and sold it cause I didn't have the bottom. lol I'll look to see if I still have a photo of it. The bottom part looks ok by itself, but the top part really looked like something was missing by itself.

I had a top and finally found a bottom about a year ago. Then it would not fit where I wanted it to hang so I let it go. BTW, there are 2 side pieces as well.

Jim posted some photos with the sign a couple of years ago.

This whole posting about Barnsdall, OK is very cool! Near the bottom is the complete sign with the top and side pieces.

The "side" pieces as noted earlier in the thread are not the original configuration. They are 48" DSP identification signs that a local collector attached to the "world's 1st Refiner" sign.

The sign offered for sale in this post is part of a 10ft 2 piece sign was used as a rooftop sign on Barnsdall stations.

Collect small Oklahoma Oil Co.'s 1920's-1940's. Barnsdall, Cushing, Eason, Marland, etc.
