I normally don’t say much about the pumps I do but this one has been so challenging for me.
I was looking forever to find a 34 display, I missed the one Tom got to first in Utah years ago, so the search went on.
A few years latter I found this one but it was NOT FOR SALE. But I did keep in touch with him, I kept sending e mails of interest every 6 months or so for quite some time.
So much time had went by I was ready to stop, but one last ditch effort I sent yet another e mail.
He replied back "you have impeccable timing" he went on to say he just purchased a Roman Colum and to soften the blow to his wife he would sell me this pump. LOL

Long story short, I got the pump but could not vision any theme for it.
Adding to the struggle, one front door was missing, as you can see the new door in the pix below.
Well several months went by and I decided to tear it apart, media blast as seen in pix below, do the body work, get a door made, and send the meter out to Joe.
Well fast forward, now seeing it in primmer, I was sure I would get paint ideas, but no luck!!!
The best I could come up with was front one color and sides another color, that just seemed boring for this pump.
I wanted something more but I was not sure what.
It set in primmer for well over a year and still no ideas, I was really discouraged after how badly I wanted this pump, I even considered selling it.
Then out of the blue one Friday driving home from work I swung into a Napa store and bought several rolls of pin striping tape, thinking I am going to try to get some ideas.
After hours of trying different designs, I came up with what you see in primmer and red tape, a real simple design, as usual I was over thinking things.
I was still apprehensive about this lay out, but I did definitely wanted to use the V of the display case to design the paint layout.
Well I just got the last piece on an hour ago and took pictures.
I still need to find items for the shelves which is challenging since they are only 1.75" deep and 12" across.
This really looks much better in person, I'm just bad at pictures.
I'm sure some of you will like it and others wont, but I just wanted to share the journey with those of you who like it.

Thanks for all the compliments and posts I appreciate it.
I am slowly ending a bout with Pneumonia and just looked at all the posts.
I'm glad to see people like it.
Matt your right about Sea Side items, I've been looking for a year and nothing yet.
Yes Big Blazer that is a braided hose on it.
Thanks again,
Lee
