Picked up an old farm sign this morning from the same farmhouse where it was used in the 1920's. Been out in the garage all afternoon removing the paint.

looks good, next time use easy off oven cleaner, the paint will be off in 10 minutes

Thanks KZ. I did use easy off oven cleaner. Really not all afternoon, but letting easy off sit 30 min between each wipedown, took a few hours. Also, being the first time I ever tried this, was being extra careful.

Looks like it had been painted over more than once.....something about "SALE" and then for the farm. I kind of like it like that. Had it been me, I would have only cleaned one side

That crossed my mind, but never having done this before, I practiced on the worst side first, then did the better side. And yes, it was painted over more than once.

Hit those rust stains with CLR and a fine steel wool, they'll come off. Great job !!
