Hi all,
I recently picked up a Wayne visible at a farm auction in West Linn, Oregon. I believe it's a 515, tags are missing, cylinder glass broken, multiple layers of house paint and no original paint underneath as I was hoping for. I'm more of a "it's only original once" type of guy but I guess this one will be a restore. The tin is pretty solid, some pitting where the tags were, and one dent down low that should pound out. As I was loading it up to haul home, the grandson introduced himself ( now in his 50's) telling me about helping work the farm as a kid and that he sanded it down long ago and repainted it with house paint to match the barn. I think it may have been a Mobil pump as I have found a splotch of red here and there on the base and the top cap is blue but I'm new and what do I know. So I've been collecting mostly farm items for a better part of 25 years from steam tractors, one lung engines, steam engines and boilers, to antique cars. I felt having at least one visible pump to go with the tractors and cars of that period was more than appropriate but I'm also a collector / hoarder and one pump my be the beginning of yet another disease. I would like to post photos of what I have but I can't figure out how using an iPad. Before I break anything I'd like to ask how to or the procedure for dismantling the pump. All the screws are more than stuck, I've dug out the old paint to get a solid bite with a screw driver but evening using an impact screw driver I have only removed one screw, the others won't budge. My thought is to dia grind off the screw heads to remove the tins and drill out and chase the holes with a tap. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long winded post.
