I was talking with a gas pump guy in Oregon today and he mentioned that Fastenal (the nut and bolt company) ships large items very cheap. I never would have thought such a thing.
I went to their website then to Services, scroll down to Third Party Logistics (3PL) and then you can submit for a quote.
Makes sense to me that they go to most every medium to large town in the country that they would want to make money on the return trips.
I have never checked their prices but he said it was cheap for the load and distance he used them for.
Something to check out, Tom.

They've been doing this for awhile. I've heard of guys shipping complete car engines with them at very affordable rates.

Phil... what were the requirements & details for shipping thru them? is it a blanket-wrap service? does it have to be crated? does it have to go dock-to-dock? do they offer residential delivery?

thanks.

They prefer on a pallet, wrapped and protected. You have to get the item dropped at the closest Fastenal and they will deliver to the closest Fastenal to you. No residential delivery.

Thanks, Phil

I spoke with my local guy at fastenal and he said they'll ship about anything that's palletized. This is great news for me as I washaving to ggo 45 miles to pickup large shipped items before.
