Anyone confirm that these were used in really small towns and the bus didn't stop unless there was some kind of flag??

I'm a little over 7 decades old and don't remember seeing this sign in the small towns in NE Wis. But that doesn't mean much, it may be an original. I do remember standing beside the highway just outside of town and waiting for the Greyhound bus to stop and pick up our family and getting off outside the next town over out in the country at my grandparents home. This was in the early 50s and common way to travel. As I got older I learned that the bus driver was originally from my home town and this was a small part of his daily run and very common for him. His route was Green Bay Wi to Rhinelander Wi, back the next day. That route was discontinued year ago.
