Really not that hard to find. There's one size larger than this nick named the "Turkey Platter"...

Yes why would you use it once a year? Blacktee are the dishes in fact off the tankers or was there giveaways at the stations. I've seen lots of Pierce dishes advertised as tanker china. We know they were from the hotels.

Not to distract from your sale, but they were used more than once a year. Turkey was served more than once a year and they were used with hams and for other meals where there were large gatherings. this wasn't like grandma's house.

Alex
The Texaco Marine china was used every day of the year on the oil tankers for the ships crew. Certain pieces were most likely from the Captains table. I think a few people here will be kinda shocked at the value of these pieces.

Bob I seen the pics your talking about. A wall of head high showcases full of china. Didn't mean to try to high jack sale post with my question. I remember as a kid food chains would have giveaways to promote shopping. Thought maybe Texaco might have done this as you see so much china. Lots of tankers I guess.

Bob I sent it to you.
Loyd this china is the real deal. The emblem is the Texaco Marine Flag. I have one photo dated back to 1934 showing a table setting in a mess area on a ship.

No problem, Im always good with learning, I have had a few pieces over the years and always liked having a few different things that I dont see everyday. I very rarely see this china appear, probably cause you had it all, that was one a great collection you had, looks like you cleaned out a couple ships of their dinnerware! LOL!!
