I emailed the seller here is his response:

It was made in Pennsylvania about 20 years ago you could only get them from miles little in midland North Carolina. It is a real heavy porcelain reproduction my dad bought about 20 years ago from miles. It is not priced like one from early 1900s this sign is in the book for 4,500.00 plus . Good luck finding another one they only made 200 of them.

Got Socony???

Why can't the little troll be up front and put all that info in his listing where it belongs. To the repro crowd it's worth $200-$250.00. Personally, I would rather buy another Texaco PPP for the same amount money which would be a better investment.

Then, in my humble, but loveable opinion, for you guys that are good samaritans and report these items (and God bless ya') send eBay the language he has emailed back to you and suggest to the eBay gatekeepers that his item description does not match his email language.

i just went and looked and he has added language at the bottom of the listing......good on him and good on you guys.

Here is what he added.....On Oct-14-14 at 13:24:05 PDT, seller added the following information:

I have had several messages from buyers about this sign. To clarify this a double sided porcelain sign made in the 1990s trademarked by texaco. they made 200 and they are getting hard to find now. For all the people sending messages I don't think you can buy a 5,000.00 sign for 750.00. It is a original from the run in the 1990s not the early 1900s. But it still has a value that has gone up every year. I have seen these a shows in years past bring from 800.00 up to 1,500.00. The original books for 4,500.00 plus. Anyone with questions can call me at 706-633-8800 Thanks Shane

"It is a original from the run in the 1990s".
