Since its embossed with Red Crown, that would date it to be earlier, and those are expensive globes. Seems bit too cheap..?

IMO the globe in question is one of the repros of this design. The arrows on originals are usually very sharp, plus I do not see any etching for the red paint to adhere on the globe in question which should be visible if all the paint was missing. I wouldn't buy it believing it was original. Originals of this globe do not have rings as far as I'm aware.

I wasn't aware they repro'd this style. I believe, if it has a 7" fitter ring...it's original.

Checked my notes.

Approx 1930-32 they went from Raised letters [RED CROWN ETHYL, SOLITE & RED CROWN] w/ 7" flanged base to No Letters & 6" Threaded Bases.

Earlier Crown Globes were heavier made and had darts around the lower band while the later versions had slashes.

I agree with Darin. No etching and the arrows don't appear to be defined enough.
Globe should have a 7" flanged base. MOST repros have a 6" flanged base but I'm told there are some with the correct 7" bases.

I had asked Scott B. about this globe several years ago Dave and he told me it had indeed been reproduced, as I was looking at a really nice one in an antique mall, it was TOO nice in fact which made me question it. I too had always thought you were safe with any raised letter red crown but unfortunately that isn't the case.
