I'm not really considering selling this, but was interested in its value, specifically the Johnson sign in this photo. I've never seen another one, its dark green and white. The cobalt blue standard sign I've seen many, many times. I was also wondering if there are any other matching signs to these two, would be fun to collect a whole set if there are more!

I know several long, strip type signs like that were found in a hole in the ground behind the Johnson refinery several years ago.
Good oil cans don't wait for people, people wait for them.

I am not a Standard oil expert. I have seen a version called Standard oil Company. I sold one like you have a couple of years ago that was about an 8....Guy paid $450 for it. my opinmion is my opinion only and is based on my experiences...Prices may vary in other parts of the country.
Right after I posted the above...I saw a picture of the Standard Oil Company sign here on Oldgas. Go to Non Petro discussion and Show case and find the discussion called "Old Model A Woods Find" there is one above his garage.....

The Johnson strip signs are usually black with white letters. While not common, they do come up for sale fairly often. I've seen several sell in the $350-$500 range.
Standard strip signs are very common. They can usually be bought for under $400.
Lots of companies used strip signs of various sizes. They're usually quite affordable.....as signs go.

This Johnson sign is very dark green, nearly black, its probably the same as the others you've seen, lastgas. I know there are quite a few strip signs, we have a sinclair one too, but just interesting to me that these two signs look like they came from the same manufacturer, same font lettering, for example. I'll have to keep an eye out for more. Sounds like I may have overpayed for the Johnson sign, I think I paid $600 a long time ago...

Paul, You didn't overpay if you're keeping it. The ones I've seen are definitely black.

I talked to a buddy tonight that saw one of the Johnson signs in mint condition sell at a collector auction within the past two years for $400.
I've probably seen 20 or more of them over the years. They were all black. My buddy said he had seen a blue one.
