I have a customer that I have been doing business for YEARS. I sent him $679.00 total july 25 that has yet to be paid. Needless to say, even tough he has kept in touch and still saying he is going to pay me , I am about FURIOUS at this point. He has messed up all my finances as I speculated he was going to pay within a certain time frame. To add insult to injury, since he does this for a living,(middle man) I gave him proffesional courtesy of putting his ahead of the collectors and told him so and asked him to extend the same courtesy, and he has already been paid by who I shipped them to !!!!!AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

NOW...........
I explained this to this customer and told him the bind I was in and that we would have to do a pre-pay since this other guy has my money....Even sent him a link to the rebuild post.....Sent him a picture of his finished computer and a bill containing the copy & pasted shipping estimation direct from UPS.

Then I got a partial payment and this:

After talking briefly with my wife last night I've decided I'm in a substantial place of risk and trust at the moment. You both hold my computer and soon will hold the entire payment of 379.00. Under the circumstances and since we have never done business together, I'd like to send you half the payment now and the other half upon delivery. In essence, I am suggesting 150.00+79.00 now. I hope that you agree this is fair. If you think not perhaps we can chat by phone so that I have another basis of trust with you. I certainly mean no offense, but this world is a funny place and things have happened to our family before.

So I sent him This:

If you don’t trust me, why should I trust you?
I have learned in life, those who do not trust, are not to be trusted.

You have just set me up so if you get the computer and think it is not worth it,
or any other cr#p like that , you don’t pay & I’m just screw@d. No, that is not happening.
So send me the rest of my money and the computer will sit here till you do.
Partial Payment was never part of the deal from the beginning, you made that up at the end.
How can I trust you, when you change mid stream?

if people can't trust and pay up front, then this will happen over and over again . these are the people you don't need.

I would hold the computer and not release it till full payment was received.

What makes him special? He won't trust you but expects you to trust him. I thought, trust was based on a mutual respect. By disrespecting you he has lost your respect...hence trust. Now, he can man up to the consequences and pay up front. Maybe next time he won't be an....

I was floored when I got that response from him, THAT has NEVER happened. Most people are extremely grateful just to be able to find someone who rebuilds these things in the first place

He did set in place a factor in which he could have not paid the rest. That is how a confidence scam works

I'd send it back in pieces and tell him "some assembly required". See how many years it takes to figure out how to put it back together. And while you are at it tell him to find somebody else to rebuild it to your quality. Only takes one person to ruin it for everybody else, well maybe two in this case...

Send his partial payment back. (certified letter).
Keep the computer, sell it to someone else.
You need to start doing your work with a deposit up front.

Joe, I have known you since the Lakewood Antique Market days and would never distrust you. I understand the guys concern about getting burned as it has happened to all of us, but all he had to do is check you out on here and that should have more than put his mind at ease. I'll add one more attaboy to the list.

$379.00 or $679.00? The middle man hopefully receives no consideration from you in the future. He is actually screwing two people around and that's only in this deal. Who knows how many others he has going at the same time. If you have been paid no money, then I'd have too blow these people off, see if my next customer in line would accept a rebuild that was not from his core and put the original jokers at the end of the line when/if they finally paid.

Maybe I misunderstood the situation. Are you talking dealing with two people about the amount due on the same computer? If so, who sent you the computer with the request for rebuild?

I shipped out two computers july 25 to one guy who has not paid as of yet.

Because he has my $700.00 I did not have the cash to send the next customer his computer and asked for $$ up front.
