I wonder if that is painted on a porcelain Texaco sign?? I'm thinking not. And the Banjo pole doesn't exist in the old shot. There is an ESSO sign there. I could not get up on the hill to replicate the exact shot.

I was paying so much attention to the car repair place on the far side of the street, that I missed the beautiful Shell station in the foreground!! I would love to see a picture of that back in the day, from the street! The building is gone and it's a Rite Aid now!! Also, I can't believe that beautiful arched bridge is gone. Heck the Brooklyn bridge has been standing for 100 years!!
There is some great signage and subject in this picture! There is the Shell, an Amoco, an ESSO, a Mobil shield with a curb side pump in the lower right, and you can see in this one pic, center frame-far left, just above the roof line, are two more Mobil shields. Must be a station on the corner over there. An great looking Ford sign. And that round sign on the garage has some great neon! And dont forget the nice brunette walking along!

The Esso Station must have had a Marina with pumps as the large neon ESSO letters are facing the water. That's why, Esso is spelled backwards looking from the roadway.

Looking for Keystone,Pure,Sinclair,Texaco,Sterling and Gulf...Thanks, Brian

Not sure if there is boat traffic on it. Sure looks big enough for boats in this area.

Most places now you just lucky to find a gas station ! Sid
