what happend to the hillside in the background og picture #1 ?? I was wondering the same thing. All I can figure is it's the angle of the shot and the Google Maps camera has a fish eye type lense and can be deceptive as to it's angle.

Looks like a flaw in the picture. I doubt all trees would be the same size on the hillside as the outline is to even.
You should come to BC and see what happens to mountains during and after gravel extraction. Not uncommon for big chunks of them to disappear around here.

This is in Stephentown NY. If you use the terrain function in google maps. You can see that the hill is surely still there.
If anyone lives in the area. Go check it out and see if you can look in the basement or attic of that building.
Absolutely Randy!! In the uncropped version of the pic, that is a big general store to the left that is, of course, no longer there.
