I haven't had time to get my Iowa Gas buys up yet, but things are slowing down so here they are! The first 2 pictures are actually the same sign! Just different images on each side! I have other Cities signs that were done like that! The battery rack was purchased in Minneapolis on the trip there and looks to be a very early piece to me. Really nice shape! The Cities "AERO" can was also purchased in Minneapolis and is the only one I'd ever seen! Out of all the people I showed it to at IG, Scott Shipers was the only person to have ever seen one!

MORE--The Star gasoline is reportedly from a small chain that operated in northern Wisconsin and Michigan? I really don't know anything about them and have only seen this sign once before! The insecticide has to be a very early can, as I have a later one and the designs are very different. I'm kind of a sucker for any Cities Service items that I don't have, especially the early stuff!

A FEW MORE-- I've always wanted one of these Phillips signs, but they were usually the 42 inch variety and were generally hailed out pretty badly! When I found this 30 incher in this kind of condition, I jumped on it! I had a curb stand for the Texaco sign, here at home and I was just waiting until the right sign happened along! The Gargoyle and Champion were just too good of deals to pass up and came from Ebay.

A FEW MORE-- The Goodrich came from ebay and now I need to find a stand for it! The Mobil plate came on a trade with another Old Gasser and I bought the Mobil curb stand from an Old Gasser that delivered it to Iowa Gas, The little Mobil plate came from the room to room sales!

The last of it!--- The Stanocola sign is probably the funniest purchase of all! Joey Whitesides had it on consignment from another Old Gasser and told me he was bringing it to Iowa Gas and I could look at it there! The sign has a lot of touch ups and is a really good 10 footer, but I've wanted one for so long, that I was willing to get one like this until the "GREAT" one could come along! When I looked at it in Joeys room, I felt it was priced too high and made an offer on it, so Joey gets the (secret) owner on the phone to discuss the offer-- theres a little haggling that goes on and the owner finally accepts it and I buy the sign! Now, I still don't know who the owner is and I'm carrying it to my room when Chuck Spillar stops me to look at the sign, and he tells me that he's positive that its the one that he used to own and he had sold it to Paddy several years ago! OK--now a light bulb just went on, as I had asked Paddy a couple years back to help me find one and he told me they weren't around his area and were pretty hard to find! He never mentioned that he had one and it probably wasn't for sale at that time anyway, as it was a couple years back! Next morning I marched over to Paddys spot and asked him if he was the "secret" phone man selling me the sign last night! We both got the biggest laugh out of it because I was in the dark the whole time while they were reeling me in! LOL Its a story I'll get to tell for years and I'll probably have to add a little to it every year like Paddy does to some of his stories!! LOL

The Pierce sign breaks the mold. They changed signs when they moved main office and operations from St. Louis to New York, neither looks like this. I've also never found any motor oil cans with the gold bond seal.
There was a Pierce Oil in CA.-makes me wonder.
I can't help but like it is it single sided or double. Just when you think you have seen it all.

My pick up`s & deliveries over the last 10 days. Some of you will be familiar with some of these items. Gargoyle Grease crate. I have never seen 1 of these in Australia before. It appeared on our local buy & sell page. (like Craig’s list) I was 2nd person in line. The first person messed the guy about with pick up times. So he called me & I jumped straight onto it. My lucky day & I only paid $25 for it. STP tin. Golden Fleece Tin.

From what I think I know about the Sunoco font on old signage, this should be an old one. Very exciting find for me. Research still to be done.
