Does the door of the tall pumps when closed go up into the top of the trim on the top sheet metal ?
Have not had one before and this pump is just about together, just do not see how the top of the door would hold into place.

Yes...when you latch the door it pulls it in then goes up a bit under the top to hold it in place.

Make sure that your top trim piece is mounted in the correct position. Look at the rear and you will see that the clips attach to the upper edge leaving a wider smooth space to allow the door to slip into, facing down. Another thing. Is this the original trim or a repro? In either case, you may need to use small flat washers with the fasteners, against the pump, to hold the trim out enough for the door to slide up? That is what I was not sure about, I think that they are repro and I will need to bring them out to allow the door to go under it.
Thanks Craig

Rather then washers between the pump and the trim. I use another nut. I use a pipe to reshape the reproduction moldings as I usually find that the radius of bend at the end never fits the pump perfectly. By using nuts then I am able to further I adjust the fitting and placement of the molding as tightening the nut against the top will force the molding out.

If you use washers as Paul suggested then you can vary the number of washers used on each molding stud. You will have to take the entire molding off to add or remove washers. Whereas if you use the nuts you simply tighten or loosen the nut to adjust the spacing.

Dave, Good idea on the nuts. Usually three washers does the trick but I like your idea much better. Paul www.severngaspumps.com
