Some of you may remember that I was looking for a missing Libbey reflector for my sign and it didn't look good, as I found out that these particular reflectors were only made for 3 years in the late 20's! I did a lot of searching and had a lot of help from other Old Gassers that sent me reflectors they thought might work, but all to no avail! I had some pieces to occupy the hole, but they weren't correct and didn't look right! I kind of resigned myself to the fact that the hunt could last a few years and possibly never be successful?
Well, Lo and Behold, on monday, I received a PM from another Old Gasser that collects vintage road and highway signs, and he thought he may have found what I needed, and asked for my address, as he wanted to send it to me! Now, help from others is a great thing, but to have someone remember what you're needing and gather it up to send to you, is absolutely AMAZING!
In short, the reflector arrived today and is EXACTLY the same as the others in my sign! This was very important to me, as it finishes out a very rare example of one of the earliest Gas and oil reflector signs ever made! This sign is so amazing, that it really deserved to be complete!
The other amazing part is that another Old Gas collector(that I've never met) cared enough to remember me when he came across this very early and rare part! And to contact me and mail it out without requesting compensation is truly a great act of kindness and consideration of this great hobby!
Aaron Portenier from Gilbert, Arizona gets my vote for the outstanding act of consideration for others within this hobby! I only hope I get to meet him one day! Thank you so very much Aaron, for this kind act of paying it forward! May your rewards be great!
Pictures show the sign missing the reflector and the next picture is the reflector that Aaron sent me!
