Now that the best franchise in Hockey history is out, the Wings of course, I always then go with my second favorite. GO HAWKS!!
P.S. and before you start showing me all the reasons why the Wings are not the best franchise in history, I have one word for you.

The last "chicken hawk" game I was at was back in the old Arena, I think they call it "the brawl". Not for the fights on the ice but in the stands. They stopped the game and the players are watching the fights in the stands. The video they have is from the other end of the ice so you can not see me... well good enough to pick me out of the police line up! they cleared out a couple sections of the yellow seat if you remember the old barn. So how it started? well seems our friends to the north can not hold their beer, plus they brought a dummy along, really a stuffed full sized scarecrow? So anyway I had a few words with them and said something like you better be quiet or your dummy might catch his arse on fire! I did not set the dummy on fire but it was on fire seconds after saying something. Well the biggest one is standing a step below me and I have to look up at him. He asks if I want to go? I told him "My momma said I should not start fights" but she never said I can't end them. So I told the guy give it your best shot, I'm a counter puncher! and you better have insurance, your gonna need it. He laughs a goes to slug me when a left paw from another Blues fan sends this guy flying down the stairs backwards. So I look at my fellow Blues fan and said "I wanted to do that..." he says sorry too late grab another one.. Well all hell is breaking loose but not a one has come to knock me off my step. then my buddy yells "cops" I turn to look behind me thinking they are coming down the steps. No there is one in our aisle next section with his billy club heading for me! I waved bye bye, took off and they never found us! About 2 or 3 years later I was having lunch with some of my ham radio buddies, they were telling about Jim Welby he is a big hockey fan, and a police officer. So when Jim gets there they get my attention, I turn around here is Officer Welby... All I could say "I didn't get a punch in but I sure was in the middle of it!" He laughs "your the fastest white guy I ever seen, where in the hell did you go?" Well I haven't been to another "chicken hawk" game! So I've mellow a wee bit. Any Calgary fans? that's another long story!

Well as a transplanted Calgarian I am a poor Flames fan. That's because I was a Winnipeg Jets fan first and former season ticket holder in the WHA and V 1.0 NHL Jets. Then onto Calgary and 3 Stanley Cups later I was an Oilers fan. All the while the Flames were the team to hate. Tough to get that feeling out of the blood. AND the Jets are baaaack! But I have a fondness for the Hawks. They have the best uniform and logo in professional sports. And heck they could be a Jets farm team (just kidding) as there a few Peggers on the team. JT is a great player and person. Chicago also has a great arena and the opening ceremonies and anthem are not to be missed. One of my favorite memories of the Hawks was watching Denis Savard stick handling through all five Oilers and scoring a spectacular goal http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c-grpzqqbqENow Patrick Kane is following his foot/skate steps. I hope to see more Hawk games in person and on TV.
