that is the only item I havent been able to free off of a pump... that part on my wayne 100 was completed rust-welded in, i tried everything... it never did break loose

They are ntricky all right but you can get them with a little persistence!
Separate the round junction box from the conduit and use a decent torch on the cast iron where the cover screws on. After getting it hot, if the cover still seems tight, (it probably will) then cool the whole assembly with water and leave it on the counter to completely cool.
This often breaks the bond between the 2 metals and the cover will screw off. If not, I like to repeat the process a couple times and use some high quality penetrating oil in between heat applications.
Persistence will eventually pay off, just don't try to force it, or the top will break. I keep all the brass ones I find, and use them on the pumps that I keep or restore, but they are not as abundant.

After heating & w/ personal care, drop a wet rag on smaller part, it'll cool off faster than large part to break the bond.
