Anyone have any insight as to what the current value is on these? About 5 years ago they seemed to be in the $500 - $800 range. Have seen one or two listed at crazy money, but they also haven't sold.

How would I know the difference original/repro.?

I go to a lot of farm auctions, one might just pop up.

Thanks in advance,

Jack Sim

The original ones have rivets whereas the repros have screws. The originals should also have some wear that will make the colour a more oxblood red (as above) opposed to a deep flat red.

Thanks K W Frith - I had heard that was the difference, but I'm guessing more then one batch (or more then one person) has made a few of these. Not sure if there are other telling signs.

My feeling are that this is something that might show up at a farm auction and since Cindy and I go to just about every farm auction we can, here in the St. Louis area, we might just see one of these. I feel I know quite a bit about petro items (example this past summer, purchased an item at a farm auction, came home and within 20 minutes after posting it here on OG, I sold it for almost 7 time what I paid for it, mainly because of the over 100 people at the auction I was the only one that knew what it was and what it was worth), and like any "newbe", I am asking you, what is a "fair price" anyone would pay for this item?
