Picked this up down here in Perry Ga for 175.

I haven't seen this particular sign... I"m guessing 20's... anyone seen this version?

Never seen that version before but would love to find a minty one...

Since I got home this evening I've been researching this sign more. Apparently the usage of "Ford Motor Cars" is early 1900s into the 19-teens as far as signage. I have looked back through oldgas posts and still coming up with zero signage similar in size or complete saying.

They were still using the term motor car well into the 30's in England and other english speaking countries, looks foreign to me.

Love that sign, unfortunately a little too much patina!!!

I checked around the web looking for similar signs. Even one site which has examples of foreign and domestic signs, the closest is a US example on tin from the teens.

Great sign! Looks like they made several and painted in the mileage. Wonder if it was one of those cross country caravan promotionals of the early days?

Did a little digging on that tin sign... Bellingham, WA was and still is home to Diehl Ford, established in 1908! Tbird, you should run that sign by the dealership and get a picture of it setting with their Model R.

Is it dated, mfg name?

Not dated... like many early porcelain. The border edge is chipped so I can't tell if it was a Veribrite like other Ford signs I've had from the early 1900s.

Can you tell what the signs say on the ground in the middle picture?

With no known evidence of it being real, can't find it anywhere is it the real McCoy? Is there a chance that it was made in the 80s when tons of junk hit in the USA? I would rather have the one Tim had a few weeks and was judged a fake by a slim margin than this batter up unknown chunk of Ford scrap. Just sayin.

Not all porcelain signs were marked. Some of the very early ones at that.

No doubt it's early.. lol.

I know alot of Chevy guys that wouldn't give a dollar for anything with Ford on it whether it looks like scrap or not..

They must be from MO and have a Very Closed Mind and like to Pick on Members

Not quite right there, I do happen to be a Ford guy, 08 pickup,wife drives a Merc Grand Marquis,36 Ford truck and 46 Ford pickup. That qualify to be a Ford guy? I just have a lot of doubt about that sign being a true golden oldie. It looks very old but not another one----ever......lot of room for doubt. Let me say there is a cloud of doubt around it. Prove me wrong I drive Fords not horses.

if someone faked it they sure did a lot of work for 175 dollars

Had a 75 year old fellow came up to me today and had seen the sign before and said it was from about 1910. He's got a collection of the old stuff and decided to take it home with him for a fair price. He said if it had been decent he'd have expected it to be about $2000 at someplace like Hershey where the early car guys congregate. Sorry for anyone who wanted it, but the cash in pocket will help me find some signs in Georgia this weekend!
