We knew the family of a local gentleman that passed away recently and they had his estate auction today. Lots of neat items... he had probably about 12 different buildings on his small piece of property. He had everything from signs & pumps to light poles to a jail cell.

I never saw the auction advertised but apparantly the word got spread well becuase by the time the auction started there was about 300 people! Here are some pictures that a relative text me yesterday to show me what was there & I figured I'd share... these were all signs they pulled out of some of the buildings:

(it was quite the auction, prices thru the roof! saw a couple of OG members there too)

Wow! I guess! I'm sure they had enough bidders there with 300, but I'd have sure loved to be in attendance!

i should have taken more pictures of the property, it was quite incredible. Building after building that was piled floor to ceiling with stuff, mostly scrap & junk. there was so much stuff, that two auctioneers ran about 7-8 hours each auctioning at a very high speed.

that still wasnt enough though, they had to auction the remainder of what wasnt dug out of the buildings by auctioning off the 'contents' of each building separately. I purposely didnt stay for that... cause I knew I'd be far too tempted to bid.

Here are a couple items I picked up at this auction.

Aladdin single lens - not many of these around and since I live in Illinois I couldn't pass it up.

Two old Huffman oil bottles and a Marquette from St. Paul. Not going to clean these - I think they look great in grime.

Also bought the American visible pictured in Bryce's photo as well. Talk about a picker, this ol' boy had an unreal amount of "stuff". Very cool to see that places like this still exist.
