What is the low retail price of a square and round 850? I conducted a search and the lowest price I found was $2,400 for a round model.

Did the square model pre-date the round model or vice versa?

I am going to try on Friday to look at an 850 that might be for sale (for the right price).

Jack's book says round is $1,800 and square is $2,200. But, based on the higher than book prices what I have seen gas pumps going for at farm auctions...who knows? I am sure others will weigh in as well. Rule of thumb.. if you like it, buy it....

Don't worry what you pay for it, in 10 years you'll kick yourself & ask WHY You didn't buy more at that price!

Today, Single POS's are selling for More than what I paid for a Painted Twin 850! & IF I had fallowed threw on a lead, I could have bought it for 1/4 & probably have had the 1 GILMORE Tetra lens thrown in.

If you post a picture of a specific pump, I believe you would get a better response and valuation.
Its kind of like asking what a car is worth without providing a picture of it.

Here are a couple of photos. Seller asking $2,300. Both glass faces are broken.

I think price wise, you're in the ball park. I have seen that condition bring more and others less. The visiguage is wrong unless they used more than one? A correct visi will be $350 to $450. You might want to try and bargain the price down to $2000 to cover the price of the correct visi.

On the West Coast Manufactured pumps the Visi is correct & IF this pump has the center Stamped Steel instead of a Cast piece, the Visi is correct for this pump.
Note where the Brass Tag is, this appears to be the Stamped Steel version.

DB--Were these pumps actually made in 2 different locations that they had different visi's, or what do you suppose the reasoning behind it was?

I have 2 850's that were made in San Fransisco.
Wayne bought Boyle Dayton so they would have a manufacturing plant on West coast. They also bought Fry for an East Coast Manufacturing Plant.
Why wouldn't other companies? Auto manufactures don't make all their models in Detroit, Why?
