There looks to be plenty of good paint left on it. Just take it to a auto paint supply co. and they can scan it to get a formula.

As stated, have it scanned or spend some time going through various color chip catalogs to get as close as possible from a stock color...
Either way, clean the area to be scanned/matched to get accurate/better results!

Scott,

I don't know if there are original paint codes for pedal car colors, however you could contact some of the reputable pedal car restorers out there. Also, I know there is a book on restoring pedal cars which may make mention of paint colors.

Like most hobbies there are opinions as to the effect of using different colors than original, though in the pedal car world it's not as pronounced for the more common cars. People will paint original colors but use stick on graphics rather than masks and painting the details. At many of the pedal car shows sometimes the custom and well executed restorations are more valued than bone stock restorations. Kinda like going to Barrett Jackson and buying a bone stock straight 6 1966 Mustang versus a Bullitt recreation.

Here are a few sites to check with on your restoration.

Looks like you found the color.
Great restoration.
I'm sure the paint is superior than what was on it originally.

...so, how did you finally get the color? 'cleaned & scanned' at the paint store, or did you dig through a zillion paint chips?

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

sorry I didn't see your question til now. my dad found the color of all places home depot. he noticed a buzz can of safety blue. we sprayed a shot of it underneath where the original paint hadn't faded, it was an exact match.
