First, let me say we have a couple of OUTSTANDING members here that need some recognition , Gilmore and Tways . Going back several years now , Dick Bennett pulled my hide outta the fire by doing decals for a scale model of an Amoco station that somehow still resides here in Richmond Virginia . Now it has it's own story and I'll repeat it if enough people really wanna hear about some Getto building that survived all this many years .
Moving ahead to PRESENT times , I started construction of THREE Dioramas last Fall, The former Zeppelin diner that was on Florence Avenue in Los Angles California . In one of the shots , a piece of a Gilmore gasoline station was visible. Gilmore , yes , the member here sent me although a GRAINY photo of not just the Gilmore but a partial view of a Richfield station and a VERY Rare view of the rear of the Zeppelin Diner !
The view allowed me to confirm what I latterly GUESSED at in building this model . Yeah , I was LUCKY !
O K , I finally finished the Zeppelin Diner about a couple of months ago and Immediately began the construction of the adjacent Gilmore gasoline station . Here's a shot of the Zeppelin done :
Now I'm still doing the Gilmore , so bear with me . Jim aka Tways was kind enough to do a "Correct " version of the rooftop sign for me and he's now getting co- credit on this build ! Lemmie tell ya . a lot of people would have ignored me and several already have by the way too. Nope , BOTH Gilmore and Tways stepped to de plate , swung made a double , it's outta de park TWO HOME RUNS !!!!!!!!
Tways artwork for the roof sign !
Now the station you see here is what I have up to this evening without Jim's BEAUTIFUL Art work he was kind enough to have done as a favor to me . He, Gilmore and Jim, yall special, same wiff you too D B !
