Pretty much said it all. It's about the same condition as the first one other than the flange. I got a little farther with the globe in the process of retrieving the sign.

Sorry if this has already been covered but I have to ask, where is it that you are digging up these signs? I don't get it!

Did they just decide to dump a lot of signs in a hole and then bury them?

...I'm guessing it's just an old dump...I used to dig bottles when I was a young'un, but never found anything like this...Rustynuts has apparently hit a vein of stuff dumped by a sign manufacturer, or a large jobber...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

From what I've found out the property I'm on was once owned by a local that had several gas stations in the area. This place was the main headquarters from where he ran all his business. After Texaco moved on Esso took over & it looks like I'm into the stuff he was taking down. At first I thought it all came from the same station but now I believe these are signs from different stations.

I'm on a friends property. The station & another building still stand. Both are used for storage. A town dump was there long before the Texaco station. I've been looking for a photo of the station from back in it's day, But no luck yet. Thanks everybody!

Always been curious as I've followed your posts in the past. Do you use a metal detector?

Not at first, But It's good to know I'm not working on top of...or going past something. I've used one a few times this spring. Lots of rust to set the machine off makes it difficult to use sometimes.
