A match made in Petrol heaven...

So you might have seen my post here a little while ago ( Most recent trade... she's got character )

I made a trade for that Chevy neon sign that a guy found in the junkyard a few years ago. Well yesterday I noticed a craigslist ad for a Chevrolet Super Service sign. I called the guy up and talked to him, he was asking an absurd amount. So I was honest with him, like I try to be with everyone, and I told him that I just bought one a few months ago and that I would offer him the same in cash for his. I even sent a picture to him of the one I bought.

Well... he ends up responding by asking where I got it. Long story short, turns out I got the first one from a friend of his, they found the neon sign in the junkyard together and they split it and each took a side. Just so happens I stumbled across each side without any reference or connection to one another.

Needless to say, after finding this out I HAD to have it. So I paid a lot more than its worth, but now I have a matching front and back! And the fact that they had to be sought out separately, makes me like it even better!

Here's the new one:

Here's the old one from my previous post linked above:

thanks guys... i'm pretty happy about it for sure.

unfortunately, I did find out the can and original transformer were discarded when found. but with that in mind, if anyone ever runs across a Chevrolet Super Service can only, you know who to contact!

This is the one I was thinking of. But I think someone had posted this one in the eBay section making fun of it. Yours was just beat to hell not full of holes correct?

ha, that one is funny... that and mine is original. that one is a repro that someone took to the back yard and shot to make it look old and beat-up. mine are pictured above, they look nothing like that

probably not... if i get bored and have the extra money some day then maybe, but i dont know how good it would look canned and neon'd anyways. i would imagine it'd be pricey for a custom can and all the neon too!
