I picked up this American sign today that I had never seen before. I feel that it is real but am not sure. {options ?}

It is porcelain and has good shelving. What would it have been used for? I put it against the add panel on a Wayne 60 and found that it would look good in it. The top edge is bent over in order to hook onto something and then a lower oblong hole for a screw.

If it where a repro I cant see anyone taking the time to bend over the top or make an oblong hole versus a round hole.

It was a replacement for ad glass. I've seen Sinclair ones.

About four different opinions, let's start over.

Actually I would like to know the answer.

Is it real? I do not know. I do know that I have a Sinclair HC that is about the same size, has a screw hole in the bottom center and the top has a rolled over edge like the one in question. I feel mine in 100% old and original and was used on a pump. I do not know what model pump but if they made them like this for Sinclair, I feel other brands like it could have been made too. Looks ok to me

Notchcad is right IMO

Erie 77...? Not sure but these were made specifically for a pump...

I've seen an old B/W photo of pumps that had these and have seen Skelly versions in person...

I also had some cities service ones like this on a Bowwser 575. Like Clinton said just hangs over the top of the face plate and shares the same hole to attach to the veeder root.

That the pump. Bowser. Thanks bowserman! I have a few Sinclair ones but never owned a pump for em. Just know I've seen em and thought they were really neat.

I'd love to have a Cities Service one! I've never seen this particular sign, and I think a Cities Service one would really be KOOL!

That makes sense to me. Hooked over the top of the face plate and screwed into the top hole of the veeder root.

I showed it to a friend of mine today {longtime collector} and he thought it was right.
