Hey folks, any time I find something unusual (to me) I like to share it with others. Also always great to learn more about them. I picked these up recently from the grandson of an old picker who, I've been told, bought them from the original station owner. Makers mark reads "Enameled Steel Sign Company Chicago" no other writing anywhere on either sign. I had a few questions..

anyone have an idea on the year?

On the Energee sign if anyone has seen another I'd like to know if the brown shading on every other letter is some sort of fading or design?? The Energee sign was the cleanest and has no rust anywhere including the back. I cant imagine it coming like that but I couldnt imagine getting it cleaned off as it looks like it's permanent

I have a 1923 Minneapolis map, showing the Energee brand for a Pure Station. I suspect that sign is earlier than the 30s.

Energee sign should be blue and white just like the Tiolene is.

Your's is still a great sign so don't beat it down too much. If you look closely mine has some dull area's and considering they are about 100 years old, they are still in great shape....

Thanks

If you look closely the 2 Energee signs are not identical. Could there have been different color combinations?
just wondering as I am not familiar with Pure Oil at all.

Wow!! I love that Tiolene!!
As for the other. It's hard to imagine how it could go from blue and white to brown and yellow.
You mentioned it was clean and rust free, have you tried to clean it at all? There is one little spot above the R that looks to have a little color. Or is that just the photo?

Here's a side by side
