A few months back, I received a phone call from another Old Gasser that was wanting to finish his Chevelle project and it was going to cost some serious money to finish it the way he wanted! He knew that I was first on the list for gas pumps if he was going to sell, and he was calling to see if I was ready to buy!
I ended up buying two rare pumps from him, but he was so far away that I couldn't pick them up for a couple months! I was kind of planning a long road trip (16 hours) when he called and informed me that he had a ride lined up to the oil fields of North Dakota if I was interested! I was plenty interested, and we got everything arranged and I met the delivery man in Williston, North Dakota at 7pm one evening and we made the transfer! It was still a 4 1/2 hour trip one way for me, but much better than 16! LOL
I had to bring them home and drop them into storage, as there was too much going on! I had my sale at the end of february to deal with, as well as a vacation to Florida with the Warden and then on to the Peotone show and auction that I really didn't want to miss! The auction was crazy and one that I will never forget!
Well, its finally settled down and I was able to get the first one hauled to my shop and begin the clean-up, so as to display it! This is the cleanest, straightest, nicest Wayne 60S that I have ever been next to! The veeder Root is like new and resets so easily, you can do it by hand! The light switch is fully functional and looks like it did when it was new! The entire pump is intact, and is perfectly straight and dent free, and there are no rust issues anywhere! one would almost think this pump was used inside a building for its service years! At least under a canopy anyway! The only problem with it is a missing showcase door! Someone removed one at some point and its been lost forever! I can live with that and find another door! LOL
I want to thank Scott Taylor--AKA--HOTRODFUN, for holding to his word and selling me these 2 pumps when the time came for them to go! Scott, you made my year when you called that day!
Oh yeah--the other pump! Well, thats another whole story, and I'm not going to tell it at this point, but it won't be long before it makes the trip out of storage for a full blown restoration! The Wayne will stay "as is" but the other pump will be getting the big deal and become an inside show pump! Details to follow at a later date! LOL

I might add that I spent a full day detailing it and scrubbing a lot of parts in the sink! It was hard work, but this pump really cleaned up nice! I even got the local locksmith to make some keys for the original locks! Both are keyed the same! Nice!

I took some time today, and moved a few things out of the way and moved the new pump into its place in the lineup! I think thats where it will stay, until I start rearranging things again! LOL

OK--as promised, heres the other pump that I was able to buy from Scott. When he found it, he emailed me for identification, and after telling him what it was, I asked to be first in line if he ever sold it! It took him about a year to get it bought and he had full intentions of keeping it, but sometimes plans change and when I got the call, I was elated to be able to own this original Erie 53.
Its currently going thru a full restoration process, as I tore it all apart yesterday and will continue to work on finishing it for the rest of the summer! LOL (It takes me a while to do one)

Erie made a lot of good looking pumps in 30's. That one is my favorite. It always reminds me of the Empire State Building with those corners and the visi-gage on top.

If only I could find a 50. That is a great pump there and looks like it was sure in a good area. Hope to see more of the restoration pictures.

Corners look like art deco skyscrapers. The trim below the face is like the empire state building.

I don't believe I have ever been offered one of those for sale or I would have remembered.
I will be making note of this make and model.
Thanks for posting it.

No globe body but I do have a line on the globe holder, so I think I'm alright there. There were 2 original globe bodies on ebay within the last year and I'll probably never see another one, LOL!
Since you asked, do you know where to find one?

Kevin your are very welcome. Thanks for all the help you gave me on my 36b I restored. I am very happy to help in the shipping any way I could. The pumps look GREAT. When I get the chevelle done I will post pictures, They take a little longer to build then a pump LOL. Kevin that wayne 60-s was in side from the early 50s I was hopping you spot that. The pumps look like they are in good hands. Keep me posted on the erie. Thanks again Kevin

I have seen the reproductions and if I don't find an original, I may have to hunt one of those down. I agree, I think they really add a lot to this particular pump! Hoping to find that elusive original!

Kevin, I think a clover shaped Cities globe would look good on it. The reproductions are not as nice as I thought they were. I was lucky to get that original one that was on ebay a while back. I also got a repo one. Here are pictures to compare.

Well, heres a picture of what it looks like today! LOL There are no 2 parts still bolted together! I,ve got appointments at the body shop-- the crack in nthe base has been fixed, and the Veeder Root is all boxed up and ready to ship!
I'm working with some other Old Gassers to get all four corner trim pieces into great shape, and I think I have the missing upper corner coming!
The only thing that I'm short is the globe holder on top --I'd like an original but if I don't find one, we're going to recast it!
After that, the only thing left is the decorative globe body! Anyone have one they would be willing to sell????
