Any thoughts or suggestions on the slabs underneath two visible Frys at my "project" country store/Gulf station ? Shape, thickness, etc. I was thinking round, 6-8 inches thick with electrical conduit.Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Dave

Most everyone I've spoken to uses 6-8 inch slabs ..... Ed Shaver

acording to your roof line 12ins. or more. If you are doing gravity hose. Must be big enough for attendant also, as it will be out of his reach.

Good point, but I don't have all that much space.I don't know if these old country stores cared about that big of an "island". In fact, most around here cemented the pumps into the "island". I think that I will do 8 inches...4 above and 4 below. Still figuring everything out. Thanks Lloyd.

You didn't mention the other dimensions.Around here,I noticed on a couple of old ones the islands were big enough so that a car would hit them instead of the pump.They were about 4" - 6" in height but extended about 2' or more in the direction a car would have been coming from.
I will note that the best example of that was on an old station with a dirt (mud) road ad in an an area prone to winter snow.As I remember,they had one long island for two pumps.Best of luck.

I appreciate the input. There will not be any cars there, but that would be a consideration. You would not want anyone sliding into your pumps. Thanks again, Dave

Looks like one at 4 and another at 7-8 for a total of 12" to me.
